Anne F. Russell, MS, BSN, RN, AE-C
Director, Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Michigan Association
Anne F. Russell, MS, BSN, RN, AE-C has specialized in the food allergy field for over 25 years. Prior to this specialization, she served as nurse clinician at Michigan Medicine in pediatric and neonatal critical care, pediatric neurosurgery and pediatric radiology. She then served as President of Food Anaphylaxis Education, a Michigan non-profit which developed seminars, created educational materials, collaborated on legislative initiatives, and provided consultation and on-site food allergy/anaphylaxis education to school staff and healthcare professionals. Subsequently, she was Food Allergy Program Coordinator at Michigan Medicine’s Division of Allergy & Immunology. Her clinical scope of practice in food allergy has included: initiation and creation of food allergy patient education materials; clinic policy development; coordination/monitoring of oral food challenges; patient assessment; clinical care planning, coordination, and intervention evaluation; research; and patient/family food allergy education. She has served as food allergy/asthma nurse consultant in a primary pediatric private practice providing RN-directed case management and patient education. She has experience as a K – 12 School Health Director coordinating and providing student health services and related staff education and oversight. Nurse Russell has provided presentations on food allergy/anaphylaxis sub-topics at state and national conferences. She is NAECB board certified as an asthma educator and CITI certified for Human Subjects Research and Biomedical. Her Masters of Science is in a public health concentration with a graduate thesis on risk mitigation self-management behaviors of adolescents with IgE mediated food allergy and peer education on anaphylaxis prevention and preparedness.

- Outcomes analysis of K-12 school and university anaphylaxis prevention/preparedness strategies.
- Impact of behavior and social determinants of health on clinical outcomes, food allergy self-management skills, and quality of life.
- Outcomes analysis in K-12 schools with and without undesignated stock epinephrine.
- Parent/caregiver and patient/student perspectives on effectiveness of clinical/school staffing models and clinical/school policies.
- Epidemiological and public health investigation on food allergy related issues.
Nurse Russell is an American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology member serving on its Adverse Reactions to Foods Committee, Anaphylaxis Committee and Continuing Certification and Professional Education Committee. She is contributor and reviewer for Food Allergy Guidelines for MI Schools; the Anaphylaxis & Administration of Stock Epinephrine Tool Kit for MI school nurses; and related standards of practice for MI school nurses. She reviews food allergy/anaphylaxis school management materials and related consultation for other states. She is nursing faculty at Spring Arbor University teaching courses on research, public health, and is a content expert for curriculum development.
Nurse Russell is a Journal of Food Allergy executive editorial board member. She has authored peer-reviewed journal publications on food allergy/anaphylaxis sub-topics and research. She provides peer-review for American Journal of Preventive Medicine. She is a food allergy contributor to AllergyHome.org. Nurse Russell has been a nominee for the People's Choice for MI Registered Nurse of the Year by Detroit News & Detroit Free Press. She was awarded Outstanding Reviewer from American Journal of Preventive Medicine. She has received a Food Allergy Network's Mariel C. Furlong Award for Making a Difference and Food Allergy Iniative's Appreciation Award.

Laura A. Edge, MA, Ed has over 30 years experience in the field of education, both at the secondary and elementary
level, in both private and public schools, and as classroom teacher and elementary principal. As a teacher she has worked
with numerous students with medical needs and has been involved in teams coordinating their individualized health and
education plans. As a school administrator, Mrs. Edge was instrumental in refining school wide emergency preparedness
planning, coordinating staff continuing education and collaborating with the school health director to assist in risk
management and safety assessment needs for students with food allergies and other health conditions. Over the course of
her career, Mrs.Edge’s students have ranged in age from kindergarten age to adult. Her dedication to hands-on, inquiry
based, integrative learning, has earned her local and national recognition and she is the recipient of two Teacher of the Year
awards.
Laura A. Edge, MA, Ed has been a popular conference speaker, workshop leader, and educational consultant for the Historical Society of Michigan and the Michigan Council for the Social Studies. She has also developed history curricula for the Andover, Massachusetts Public Schools. Mrs.Edge has been awarded several science education grants and has had numerous articles published in teaching periodicals.

Lisa Johnson, MA served as academic advisor and internship coordinator for the Haab School of Business at Concordia University in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She earned her bachelor and master degrees from Eastern Michigan University in Education and School Counseling. Mrs. Johnson is passionate about helping students achieve their academic, personal and career goals by setting them up for success with an academic plan. Her goal is to see each student enter their chosen field with a career they love and are passionate about. Mrs. Johnson also has extensive academic experience as an educator and school counselor at the middle school and high school levels.

Cindy Montag, BSN, RN has specialized in pediatrics for 37 years. Her professional experience began in the pediatric unit at Hurley Medical Center, Flint, MI, for two years before working at Michigan Medicine's C.S.Mott Children's Hospital for 35 years. Her critical care experience includes both the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. In the NICU, she also served on the transport team and as a preceptor to new staff. In the PICU, she was a charge nurse and preceptor to new staff. Her experience in ambulatory care nursing began in the Pediatric Walk-In clinic.This was an unscheduled, acute care clinic serving a patient population from newborn to age 18. The spectrum of medical problems seen in this clinic ranged from minor complaints to major medical emergencies.
Cindy Montag, BSN, RN was a Clinical Care Coordinator in pediatric endocrinology for 11 years. Here she coordinated a statewide, grant-funded Newborn Screening Follow-Up program for endocrine disorders, in conjunction with the Michigan Department of Community Health. Endocrine newborn screening results and recommendations were provided to the parents and primary care healthcare providers for every child born in Michigan. Mrs. Montag's most recent role in ambulatory care nursing was with the Children's Intestinal Rehabilitation Program (ChIRP), an interdisciplinary collaborative program of physicians, nurses, dieticians, social workers and a PharmD for children with short gut syndrome. Mrs. Montag worked closely with the parents and home care and school nurses to meet the many needs of these children including provision of patient/family education.
Cindy Montag, BSN, RN has administrative experience as both an Assistant Head Nurse in pediatric ambulatory nursing and as a Clinical Nurse Supervisor in the pediatric intensive care unit. She has planned and moderated a conference for parents of children with congenital hypothyroidism annually. She has also served on various committees in C.S. Mott Children's Hospital. Mrs. Montag is a published co-author of journal articles pertaining to neonatology issues. She has also been a speaker at various pediatric conferences.
