GOALS
Mission of Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Michigan Association (FAAMA)
FAAMA is a professional association with a primary purpose to share expertise and partner with fellow healthcare professionals working with the food allergy patient population. FAAMA aims to advance the science on IgE mediated food allergy and anaphylaxis by collaborating on related research. Additionally, continuing education opportunities, selected resources, referrals and collaborative initiatives are shared with healthcare colleagues to assist in professional endeavors which impact patients with IgE mediated food allergy at risk for anaphylaxis. FAAMA also collaborates with legislators on food allergy related health policy efforts. FAAMA was founded in February 2015.

Four Main Objectives of FAAMA

Provide formal professional evidenced based health education on IgE mediated food allergy/anaphylaxis.
  • Aim to produce and/or share continuing educational opportunities with content targeting fellow healthcare professionals. Conference development and production is dependent on current organizational resources and the selected focused goals for the year.
  • Aim to offer referrals to evidence based, professional resources for healthcare professionals (e.g. clinical teams, public health nurses, school nurses), school personnel, and university staff and businesses.
Partner with universities, profesional organizations, and healthcare professionals on food allergy research of merit.
  • Focus includes fields of medicine, nursing, psychology, nutrition, school health, public health and/or education.
  • Collaborate on project recruitment when possible.
  • Collaborate on data analysis, manuscript writing and review.
  • Serve as primary investigators or co-investigators.
  • Publications & research involving FAAMA leadership team members at this link.
Partner with professional organizations on food allergy related health policy initiatives.
  • Inform public policy.
